TSIMANE AGUA NEGRA

AMAZING JUNGLE FLY FISHING FOR BOTH GOLDEN DORADO AND PACU. AGUA NEGRA IS FOR JUST fOUR RODS PER WEEK AND INCLUDES FISHING ON THE SECURE. A MORE RUSTIC / AUTHENTIC JUNGLE EXPERIENCE.

Factfile

The Agua Negra Lodge experience at Tsimane is based around one comfortable jungle lodge. The lodge combines the best aspects of jungle fly fishing; sight fishing in freestone rivers with relatively light tackle for big fish.

Superb fishing is available within a short distance of the lodge and new water is fished and explored daily.

Always plenty of pacu and dorado to chase in the Agua Negra, along with the chance to fish the main Secure along with a smaller tributary.

Overview

Tsimane is set within an Indigenous Territory, some 200 km from La Paz and 470 km from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, as well as a National Park named TIPNIS (Isiboro-Secure Indigenous Territory and National Park), located in a very remote and virginal area within the Bolivian Amazon. The landscape is unique. The rivers fished are the headwaters of some tributaries of the Amazon River — shallow, clear transparent waters running downstream through the mountain and across the rainforest. It is actually one of the most raw and natural environments on earth.

These crystal-clear streams teem with life, seemingly untouched and unmolested by the hand of man. Within this fish-rich waters lurk marauding dorado, which will test both angler and tackle to their limits.

All in all, this is a fly-fishers playground and one that you are unlikely to forget for a very long time. A must visit location and we are confident you will return for more.

Fishing

Agua Negra holds the best water for sight casting out of the whole Tsimane portfolio; fishing for big dorado in shallow water. There’s also a great population of pacu to chase during your stay.

You will fish the waters of Agua Negra, which is a smaller tributary of the Secure River and also includes a remote out-camp on the headwaters where you can overnight camp during your stay. Beyond the Agua Negra, there is also the medium section of the Sécure river, which has an abudance of plenty of fish holding structure, along with the tiny yet prolific Chimoro jungle stream, which is perfect for Yatorana and medium size dorado on light tackle. This broad variety of waters and pools allow groups to fish fresh water every day, and rarely, if ever, repeat the same fishing beat.

The main programme is based out of the comforts of the Agua Negra Lodge, but there is also a chance of visiting the headwaters’ out-camps of the Agua Negra river.

accommodation and pricing

The Agua Negra Lodge experience is based on one very comfortable jungle lodge, built entirely from sustainable wood cut and sourced sustainably from the nearby jungle. There’s also the option to visit the out-camps to the headwaters of Agua Negra river and one-day hikes to Chimoro stream, which many will find appealing.

The main Agua Negra Lodge offers safari-style double occupancy tent cabins, placed on elevated wooden platforms. Each tent offers comfortable beds, en-suite bathroom, hot running water, and electric light.

The lodge accommodates just four rods per week in twin, en-suite rooms. Cost of a week is US$5,800, which includes the charter to / from the jungle and also two nights’ stay at a hotel in Santa Cruz. There is also an additional fee of US$570 to cover, which is for the National Park Entry and Indian Reserve Fee.
