Overview

Howenh Lodge is a boutique sea trout destination located on Argentina’s famed Río Grande in Tierra del Fuego. Hosting a maximum of just six anglers per week, the lodge offers a highly personalised fishing experience on one of the world’s most celebrated migratory trout rivers.

Positioned on an exceptional section of the river, Howenh controls more than 30 kilometres of productive water extending all the way to the Chilean border. The combination of extensive fishing access, low angling pressure and experienced guides provides anglers with outstanding opportunities to target the large, hard-fighting sea trout for which Tierra del Fuego is renowned.

Neighbouring fisheries include some of the most famous names in the region, including Kau Tapen, Aurelia and San José, highlighting the quality and reputation of this remarkable stretch of river.

Fishing

The Río Grande is widely regarded as one of the finest sea trout rivers in the world. Each season, large numbers of migratory fish enter the river from the South Atlantic, offering anglers the chance to connect with powerful sea trout that regularly reach double figures and occasionally far beyond.

Howenh Lodge provides access to more than 30 kilometres of water, ensuring anglers have a huge variety of pools, runs and holding water to explore throughout the week. The river’s consistent flow, excellent fish-holding structure and strong annual runs have established Tierra del Fuego as a bucket-list destination for fly fishermen worldwide.

Fishing is exclusively fly fishing and is typically undertaken using Spey rods, switch rods and single-handed outfits depending on water conditions. Experienced guides help anglers adapt techniques to maximise opportunities throughout the week.

The extensive beats and limited rod numbers ensure guests rarely encounter other anglers and can enjoy a relaxed pace of fishing on one of the most productive sea trout rivers on the planet.
