Good value for money too.

Overview

Estancia Maria Behety covers around 800 square kilometres (approximately 275,000 acres) of cattle and sheep grazing land. the Estancia and all of these pampas border the northern bank of the Rio Grande opposite Estancia Jose Menendez and Estancia Despedida. The three fishing lodges on the opposite bank alternate daily use of the water in an organised and friendly manner.

Estancia Maria Behety Lodge is located 15 kilometers from La Villa Estancia Maria Behety (the original homestead), situated on a plateau where you can overlook the heart of Rio Grande.

Built to function exclusively as a fishing lodge, the lodge is the place chosen anglers who appreciate a permanent view of the Rio Grande. It is a lodge that has a very high repeat custom rate, which highlights the fishing and service it provides.

This lodge has eight bedrooms in suites, a spacious dining room and a great living room with fire place and a bar. The menu and wine list, as in the sister lodge; La Villa, are diverse, and there is a garden house with a big grill where a special meal is cooked for all the guests every week.

Fishing

EMB Lodge is located some 30 river kilometres from the start of the Estancia, putting it within a stone’s throw of some of the best and most prominent water on the middle reaches of the river. Estancia Maria Behety Lodge is literally within minutes’ drive of more than hundred of the finest pools on the whole river – no matter where the fish are located, they can follow and find the fish for you.

The three fishing lodges on the opposite bank (Villa Maria / Despedida / Kau Tapen) alternate daily use of 50 kilometres of Estancia Maria Behety river frontage in a friendly and organised manner that insures a quality and private experience for everyone on the river – you should never see anyone fishing the opposite bank on your allocated beat.

The main strength of EMB Lodge and Estancia Maria Behety as a whole is the amount of water they have access to. The water varies in size a lot; according to the location on the river but also the time of year. As a rule, the majority of the water is best covered with spey or switch rods. However, single handers also have their moment, so all anglers should find it to be a comfortable home.
