Aurelia is a gem on the Rio Grande. Not as well known as some of the lodges below, but a lodge that holds unique appeal that keeps you returning over consecutive years. A homely lodge environment where you feel part of the family. Fantastic guide team and fishing.

Overview

Aurelia Lodge is not as well known as some of the bigger lodges downriver. However, overlooking this option would be a mistake. This is undoubtedly one of our favourites on the river and in Argentina as a whole.

The small, intimate lodge environment provides a homely and welcoming atmosphere. The team run a tight ship and are always around to help and make sure you have the best experience possible – this is highlighted in their return rate, with many choosing to make this their annual pilgrimage.

With just four per week and many miles of fishing on both the Rio Grande and Rio Menendez under Aurelia Lodge’s ownership, we’re confident you will enjoy this unique experience. This is the perfect option for intact groups.

Fishing

Aurelia has exclusive access to around 8 miles of the Rio Grande and 15 miles of the Rio Menendez (both rivers offer easy wading, with the riverbed being mainly fine gravel), all to just four rods per week! You are assured that the water is well rested with such low rod numbers.

The fishing is primarily for sea trout (sea run brown trout). However, there is also a decent amount of both brown and rainbow trout present, which will often oblige when the sea trout will not.

The river is not wide at Aurelia, with most pools being easily coverable with a single hander. However, being able to use a switch / double hander is definitely an advantage and will allow the water to be covered with ease, even on the windiest of days.

Have an enjoyable day on the river and return to the comforts of the warm, welcoming lodge in the evening. The lodge is homely and has a real family feel; you never feel like the team are going through the motions or that you’re treated as just another number.

Cost of a week is just US$6,990 per angler based on four anglers. This includes single rooms as standard, along with fishing licence costs. Fantastic value for money. Aurelia is the perfect option for smaller, intact parties.
