Prime September 2026 Availability – A rare opportunity to secure exclusive access to one of Iceland’s most unique and productive fisheries during the peak of the sea trout season.
Set within 4,500 hectares of private wilderness, this is a truly special fishery—offering complete privacy, exceptional fishing, and a level of tranquillity that is increasingly hard to find. Despite its remote feel, the lodge is located just two miles from the town of Vík, making it both secluded and easily accessible.

The Lodge
The beautifully designed riverside lodge comfortably accommodates up to seven guests across five rooms:
1) Two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms
2) Three single bedrooms with a shared bathroom
Finished to a high standard, the lodge provides a warm and relaxing base after a day on the water. A sauna is also available—perfect for unwinding in the evenings.

The Fishing Experience
Fishing is based on five rods, with the option to accommodate up to seven anglers on a rod-sharing basis.
What makes this fishery so special is the variety and exclusivity:
1) A maximum of two rods on the Vatnsa River at any time
2) The remaining rods fish Lake Heidarvatn, or optionally the Kerlingadalsa River
The lake can be fished both from the bank and via a supplied rowing boat, offering flexibility and consistently productive sport.

Species
1) Sea trout (primary target)
2) Brown trout
3) Arctic char
4) Atlantic salmon
While the system offers true multi-species potential, the sea trout are the headline attraction.
FISHING FOR HUGE Sea Trout
Heidarvatn has earned a reputation for producing exceptional sea trout in both numbers and size.
Fish exceeding one metre in length were landed last season—pushing towards the 30lb mark. Thanks to strict catch-and-release policies, both the average size and overall stock continue to improve year on year.
For anglers seeking large, hard-fighting sea trout in a low-pressure environment, this is one of the standout destinations in Iceland.

Guiding & Catering
Your package includes:
1) One full day of guiding (included in the price)
2) Additional guiding available on request
The stay is self-catered, with a well-equipped kitchen provided. Supplies can be purchased en route or in nearby Vík throughout your stay.
