Positioned to take advantage of the river’s annual baitfish migration, the lodge offers a highly mobile and dynamic fishing programme that changes with water levels, fish movement and seasonal conditions. This unique approach allows anglers to intercept actively feeding dorado across a wide variety of habitats and water types.
Unlike many fixed-location fisheries, Karandá’s success is built around following the migration and adapting daily strategies to changing conditions. Combined with experienced guides, comfortable accommodation and small group sizes, the result is a rewarding and engaging freshwater fishing experience that consistently produces hard-fighting golden dorado in beautiful surroundings.
The Middle Paraná River is one of South America’s most productive golden dorado fisheries. Each season, vast schools of baitfish move through the river system, creating feeding opportunities that attract large concentrations of aggressive dorado. Karandá Lodge has been specifically positioned to take advantage of this seasonal movement, allowing anglers to fish where the action is at its best.
Fishing is conducted from custom skiffs and covers a wide range of water types including channels, cut banks, sunken timber, sandbars and shallow flats. The programme is highly mobile, with guides constantly adapting to changing river conditions and fish movements.
Golden dorado are the primary target species and fish in the 10–30lb range are regularly encountered. These powerful predators are famous for their explosive strikes, blistering runs and spectacular aerial displays. The constantly changing nature of the fishery means no two days are ever the same, making Karandá an excellent destination for anglers who enjoy technical fishing and adapting to conditions.
Both fly anglers and lure fishermen are well catered for, with opportunities to target fish in a variety of environments throughout the season.
Karandá Lodge provides comfortable accommodation designed specifically for travelling anglers. With capacity limited to just ten guests, the lodge maintains an intimate atmosphere and personalised level of service throughout the season.
Rooms are spacious, air-conditioned and offer a comfortable retreat after a day on the water. The small lodge format allows guests to enjoy a relaxed and sociable environment while still benefiting from attentive service and flexible daily schedules.
Its riverside location provides easy access to the fishery and ensures more time is spent fishing and less time travelling to productive water.
Excellent food and hospitality form an important part of the Karandá experience. Guests enjoy a varied menu featuring local and international influences, with meals designed to satisfy hungry anglers returning from a full day on the river.
A selection of wines, beers and local and international spirits are included throughout your stay, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and share stories from the day’s fishing.
The lodge’s friendly atmosphere and attentive staff help create a welcoming environment that keeps many guests returning year after year.
